Note on the Trophy Competition


Any heavy (4000 lb + with driver) rear wheel drive American vehicle is welcome to run for the Best in Class, Pro Street 10.90 Index, and Big Dog Trophies. Any other rear wheel drive vehicle or strip-only vehicle can run all day in our Test and Tune class but is not eligible for the Bracket Class, Pro Street 10.90 Index, and Big Dog Trophies. This is, after all, the Southern Super Heavyweight Shootout!

Tech Changes


Roll bar and an SFI 16.1 driver-restraint system will be mandatory on any vehicle running 11.49 or quicker and for convertibles running 13.49 or quicker. An SFI 3.2A/1 jacket will be mandatory for all drivers in vehicles running between 10.00 to 11.49 seconds. 11.49 or quicker, a flywheel and clutch meeting SFI Spec 1.1 or 1.2 and a flywheel shield meeting SFI Spec 6.1, 6.2, 6.3, or 9.1 will be mandatory. A driveshaft loop will be required on all cars running 13.99 or quicker and utilizing slicks, except vehicles equipped with street tires running 11.49 or slower. All Nitrous or non-OEM supercharged or non-OEM turbocharged cars with an OEM or .024-inch steel firewall drivers must wear an SFI approved fire jacket, regardless of ET/MPH.

Tech Inspection


GaSSit is an NHRA Alternative Sanction Organization (ASO). We are the first Impala SS club in the country to be recognized as an NHRA ASO. In order to keep our ASO status and our insurance, we WILL be enforcing these rules. If you can't pass tech, you can't race. We will try to help you to pass tech, but the decision of the Tech Inspectors is FINAL and the GaSSit Steering Committee doesn't want to hear about it.

Driver safety

  • Seatbelt operational
  • Helmet meeting Snell standards (for 13.99 or quicker)
  • Footwear that completely encloses the foot
  • Long pants and shirt with sleeves required -no shorts or tank tops
  • Roll bar and an SFI 16.1 driver-restraint system will be mandatory on any vehicle running 11.49 or quicker and for convertibles running 13.49 or quicker.
  • Roll cage mandatory in cars running 10.99 or quicker, or any car exceeding 135 mph
  • Full bodied cars, with unaltered firewall, floor and body running between 10.00 and 10.99 roll bar permitted in place of roll cage
Vehicle Exterior
  • Brake lights operational
  • Glass in safe condition
  • Car number posted on drivers side and rear window
Vehicle Interior
  • Drivers side floor mats removed
  • All loose items removed from interior
  • All loose items removed from trunk (remaining items must be bolted in)
Engine Compartment
  • All fluids at proper level; no fluid leaks anywhere on vehicle
  • Battery securely fastened
  • Belts and hoses in good condition
  • Throttle operation, return springs, and return action operating properly
  • Coolant overflow bottle required
Brakes, Suspension & Transmission
    Sufficient brake pad/shoe material; good brake pedal feel Front-end components (steering, ball joints, tie rod ends, etc.) tight and OK Rear suspension & drive components (drive shaft, rear end, sway bar, etc.) tight and OK Transmission gear selector operating properly; clutch OK (if so equipped)

Wheel studs must 1) show through lug nuts or 2) be threaded into lugnuts 1 stud diameter

 

Class PS Pro Street 10.90 Index Rules

  • .400 Pro tree heads up on 7 second auto start
  • Min weight 4,000 lbs
  • Full bodied street cars only - No tube chassis cars
  • Tubbed and non tubbed cars allowed
  • Deep staging allowed but starter will not hold tree *
  • DOT and slicks allowed
  • Open headers permitted
  • No electronics (trans brakes, throttle stops, delay boxes, etc. prohibited)
  • Car and driver must meet NHRA and track safety rules
  • Gasoline only, no alcohol
  • NHRA sportsman ladder used for eliminations
* Deep staging allowed but starter will not hold tree. When both prestage lights are activated auto start
will be activated. When the 1st stage light is activated, the other competitor will have 7 seconds to
get staged or they will be timed out.
